Don't give up.....

Just a note....
Remember to never give up. While I heal from surgery and contemplate what I have yet to accomplish I can feel overwhelmed.....however....

It is when I look at what I have accomplished that I realize that everything takes a "step at a time".....and one day I'll wake up and be in my new tidy world.

If you're still on this journey with me, take a moment, here and there and stretch to pat yourself on the back for the many things you do accomplish....

"On The Road Again"

Well, I had tunz of help to prepare for my daughter coming home, she came home, she's been cleaning, causing me to clean (in a Christlike way) and now my older sister has challenged me to be her Organization Buddy, so now "I'm back"...... I lost my job last Friday (bad) but now I have time to clean (good)........ I have my harness hooked to my safety line and here I go............................ Here are the before pictures of my bedroom:

Stay tuned for the after pictures.............

Crash Course

What: Cleaning, Cleaning, Cleaning
W
ho: Me, A Daughter, A Son-in-law, A Son, A Daughter-in-law, Five Grandkids, Two Visiting Teachers, An Old Room Mate
Why: My daughter is coming home from her mission TODAY
Where: The living room, family room, dining room, kitchen, three bathrooms, play room, daughter's room, guest kitchen, guest entry way/dining room.
How: Tunz of service, perserverance, and "synergy" from some very wonderful people

I've plugged away at my various messes for the past 18 months, but I became acutely aware that "time was up" and I was still standing at first base, so I finally allowed some very incredible service giving people into my life to "help me"........that was the hard part.....admitting that I needed "HELP". I also felt bad about taking their time, impacting their lives----most of all I hated the fact that my actions (or inactions) made it all necessary.

Join me as I take you through the journey of tears, finding treasures forgotten, and a slow rebuilding of the belief I once had in myself. It is painful to admit you have a problem----back-breaking to not give up......and liberating to look back and see what you and the angels in your life have accomplished.

It all started last year my family came and spruced up my very large yard and hauled branches and cut them small enough to be hauled off. It was a day of intense labor.

Then, again this year it started with a daughter being willing to put her life on hold and come for a visit (overnight and into the next day) to help me put together a garage sale. This was NOT something I could have done by myself......would never have happened. She helped me let go of "items" (a seemingly impossible task), she was the buffer at the sale from the people that I just couldn't deal with and the reassurance that I did a really good job even though it only scratched the surface of what I had managed to accumulate. When she drove off, what she left me with was a full cash box and a heartful of renewed belief in myself.

Then there have been the cherished grandkids...the grand daughter with her innocent (but honest) questions about why grandma's house is so messy to the little one's obvious discomfort at the chaos. There was the grandson that pitched in at the garage sale and helped Grandma another day pick up items on the floor and put them in bags. And always---always their endless hugs to let me know that I was "enough" even though my surroundings weren't.

The daughter-in-law who came after a long day herself and helped vacuum, dust, straighten and transport an army of boxes from an upper floor to a lower room to be gone through later---all with a smile. The visiting teachers who, while older, came and taught to me a stick-to-it-ness to getting a hard task done and ended it with a meal of home made stew, their company, and the Relief Society message----. And finally, my room mate . . . someone with many fires to fight in her own life....taking the time to spend a morning with me......who actually spent FIVE hours cleaning at the fastest "white tornado" speed I've ever seen a soul achieve....whew.....(hope it's catching!!!!)

So, before (if I have them) and after pictures will follow. For now, I need to get ready to pick up my daughter from the airport.

And for all of YOU that made it possible for me to feel hope again........I want:

From "Enter At Your Own Risk" to "Welcome Friends....

My entry is its own little room. I've always, until recently, kept it "ready for company". I'm unable to say when it first became too embarrasing to even open my front door. It became a room which isolated me from the outside world until today when I was able to face it and "put it in order"

Here is the before picture:

Supplies Used:
Garbage Bag (Most Important Tool)
Dusting Cloth
Pledge (the kind you spray not the kind you say)
Vacuum
Courage
Time to complete: 20 Minutes

Favorite moment from this experience...I found a set of keys for a lock I haven't been able to open for eight years and a love seat and chair that I forgot I had....

Here is the after picture:

Furnace Room COMPLETE

Materials Used - Garbage Bag, Dustpan, Broom, Rag, Dustmask, Bravery
Time to Complete - 30 Minutes

I've come out on the other side of the "Spiders' Den" (yes, that's right----plural scurrying earth monsters-----ugh). I didn't know that the top of my water heater was a beautiful metallic blue (I think I'd like a car that color)....
Here's the "proof".....

The First Step........

My incredible daughter figured out how to upload my pictures, so here are the before pictures of the furnace room.
Stand by for the after pictures....

And Away We Go......

When I contemplated the enormity of the task at hand, I decided to go with safety first.

It's been over eight years since my furnace room has been clean (unless you want to count the time it got "dusted" by the contractor repairing my furnace). Since my house is protected by killer dustballs, they would probably make good kindling for a nasty fire.......off I go....

Well, I tried to take a before picture and Adobe Photoshop downloaded all my pictures and then automatically erased them from my camera and now won't give me access to look at my pictures........I can hear you saying "you're too old for all these fancy gadgets"...... (I hope I can figure this out). Anyone have any ideas about my "lost pictures"?

Also, my furnace room is much worse than I thought it would be-----spider webs the width of spaghetti (okay, a slight exagerration) and all of the old parts from my old furnace, and of course.....KILLER dust balls!

Try, try again.......

Catch you later!
